No, I don't think that has anything to do with it. I think I'm going to take the whole thing back to the store and return it. Isnt there a number I can call. I wasted an entire day on this crapola. What a piece of junk.

I am having same problem, but I don't have McAfee on my computer. I use Kaspersky's anti virus software. The scan was working okay until about a week ago. When I open up the HP icon on my desktop, the scan options no long appear.

Your problem is a little different, but fairly easy to solve. To get the features back uninstall the current version of the software you have installed, and download version 28.8 and install it. That should get everything back for you. I'll link it below.

How did you install the printer? Did you use the CD that came with the printer, or did you download the latest software?
Are you having a problem scanning from the printer, or from the printer's software on the computer?
Can you scan using MS Paint?

I used the CD to install the driver.
I am having problems when I try to scan from the computer as well as when I try to scan from the printer and send to the computer. However, I can scan from the printer and save it to a flash drive.
No, I can not scan using MS Paint.
I have already tried turning off all firewalls and still no luck. Some times it gives me the error that says "Scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked device' but most of the time I will get an error that says the "connection to the scanner is bad", and gives me several ways to try and fix the issue.
I know the connection is fine since I can print wirelessly and I have interenet.
I spoke with Dell, who wants to charge me $130 to look at the issue, and they said it is a software problem. They said my computer is not configured correctly.
