My HP PageWide Pro 477dw no longer scans to email. Using smtp.office365.com port 587 and SSL/TLS I get the error "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again". I have checked.
This has always worked before. I have updated firmware, repowered many times all to no avail.
This is peculiar to my outlook email address. If I change to another server with another email account everything works OK.
Concerned that printer no longer supports the HP 477DW authentication protocol used by Microsoft on its office365 accounts.
Suggestions please? Suddenly happened, printer working OK, email accounts OK.
Help!

With effect from 30 September 2024 Microsoft withdrew support for basic authentication using TLS1.2. You have to use Oauth2 which HP do not support even though there was a firmware update in June this year. That's it. Take it or leave it. I hold MS and HP jointly and severally responsible for this fiasco which means printers and consumables are consigned to the tip. Environmently harmful, expensive for consumers. Sooner an obsolescence law is introduced the better.
Incidentally App Password doesn't work. That too is being scrapped!

I do not normally respond to these types of posts but I fear other users will read it and dispose of perfectly workable printers based on your post. Yes not supporting 0Auth is a pain as scanning to email directly from the machine is handy, but the alternative is to configure scan to folder on the printer and then attach the scanned documents to an email sent from your computer based mail program. Yes, an extra step, but for many that would be preferable to tossing their device. In fact, I find a lot of SOHO clients I deal with are only scanning to email to send to themselves because they either did not know they could scan to a folder, or their tech was too lazy to configure it.
HP is working on OAuth for their Enterprise level products, however I think it unlikely an end of support life product like the 477 will see that type of update..
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.

I too wouldn't take the decision to scrap a printer lightly. I much prefer scan to email, it is easier to use.
However scan to folder no longer works. I tried this. It used to work but no longer does since the latest firmware update. On the EWS page I have set up a folder on my NAS, it tests fine but as soon as I go to the panel I get a general error message. I have reset the printer, power cycled it but still get a successful test but a general error message when I try to scan.
For an ordinary home user, this is infuriating. HP make good printers which last a long time. Sadly the software either doesn't work or is too complex for the ordinary bloke to use.
I appreciate the feedback but I am at a loss as to what to do other than write off a perfectly good printer which is great for double sided scanning.

The alternative to use Scan to Network Folder is much less flexible and I suspect the NAS has to be woken up for it to work. Nevertheless I still couldn't scan to folder, getting the general error message. However, being stubborn and inspired by repairatrooper, I typed in the full root path of the folder, no IP address or shortened format. This worked a treat.
I now have scan to network which we can live with and can use our Google email to scan to email but simple authorisation is being removed around now by Google and so scan to email will shortly be impossible. Infuriating but the printer does have a stay of execution.
Not happy but thanks for the responses.
