Is there any way to scan multiple pictures at one time? HP scan had the funtionality but HP Smart falls short. Please help me find another way to do this without having to edit each scan multiple times.

Hi @017432CB,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand HP Scan and Capture has been discontinued and HP Smart doesn't provide the same functionality for scanning multiple pictures at once, you can try using Windows Fax and Scan, which is a built-in application in Windows 10 that supports scanning multiple pages into a single document. Here’s how you can use it:
Open Windows Fax and Scan:
- Type "Windows Fax and Scan" in the search bar next to the Start menu and open the application.
Set Up Your Scanner:
- If your HP OfficeJet 4650 is not already set up, you may need to add it as a device. Follow the prompts to do so.
Scan Multiple Pictures:
- Place all the pictures you want to scan on the scanner bed.
- In Windows Fax and Scan, click on "New Scan" at the top left.
Adjust Scan Settings:
- Choose your scanner from the list if it’s not already selected.
- Click on "Profile" and select "Photo" or "Documents" depending on what you are scanning.
- Adjust settings like color, resolution, and file type as needed.
Scan the Pictures:
- Click "Preview" to see a preview of what will be scanned.
- Adjust cropping if necessary by dragging the selection handles around each picture.
- Click "Scan" to scan all the pictures into a single document.
Save the Document:
- After scanning, you can save the document to your desired location. Windows Fax and Scan typically saves scanned documents as PDF files.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @teejyweej,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're not happy with HP Smart, especially after the discontinuation of HP Scan and Capture. It can be frustrating when software changes and doesn’t meet your needs. If you're looking for alternative scanning software, there are several options you might consider.
- NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2) - It's a free and open-source scanning tool that's user-friendly and has various features for managing and editing scans.
- Adobe Scan - A mobile app that allows you to scan documents and receipts, with OCR capabilities to convert them into editable text.
- VueScan - A third-party scanning software that supports a wide range of scanners and offers advanced features.
- ScanTailor - For post-processing scanned images, it's great for cleaning up and enhancing scanned documents.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
