Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Photosmart All-in-one C309g-m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Following withdrawal of HP Solution Centre, I am now unable to use the scanner. I've tried Windows Scan but the scanner is not recognised. I tried HP Scan and Capture but again it fails to recognise the scanner. I've learnt that my printer/scanner is not supported. If I use the printers controls and try to Scan to my computer laptop,  it says "Try starting scan from the computer.".  Seems weird. Is there a Scanner application that is compatible with the HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m?

Welcome to the HP support community.

Adobe has permanently disabled the Flash Player as of 12-Jan-2021, and as the HP Solution Center software is based on Flash, it may not work as expected.

Here are two other compatible scanning apps, which can be used to scan your photo or document:

  1. HP Scan Extended: You can Download-Save-Install > HP Scan Extended

Or--

  1. HP Scan and Capture: You can download and Install HP Scan and Capture app from Microsoft store. Here is the link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store
For more information on how to use this app, refer: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675206

NOTE: You must have the HP printer driver software installed on the computer to use these apps. If you did not uninstall HP Printer driver software, then you should have it already.

OPTIONAL: Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

  • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin

  • Right-Click exe > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image/document boundary).  May include OCR (Save as Editable Text).

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Sandy

I tried to install HP Scan Extended as directed but when I run it I get the error "The HP Imaging Device was not found".

I have previously installed and tried HP Scan and Capture but whenever I try to >Select A Device it can only find Camera.

I did try Webscan with some success, although it is not ideal and very basic.

Do you have any suggestions as to why the Imaging Device cannot be detected? Windows Scan is exactly the same. Even when I go into Settings>Devices>Printers & Scanners>Choose HP0FCBE9>Manage there is no option to use the Scanner.

I hope to hear back from you with some suggestions.

Thank you

Andrew

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I can get as far as selecting the Country - United Kingdom and English, but there is no "Show Options" unfortunately.

The options I am presented with are

Online Support

HP Support Community

HP Phone Support (Fee Based)

I can see that my printer has been identified by the HP system as

HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g
Warranty status: Manufacturer warranty has expired - See details
Serial number: MY9AS4H268
Product number:CD055B

Any suggestions on how I get a Case raised with HP?

Thank you

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
