Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I have a Mac mini and after the last update, my documents will scan but won't upload into HP Smart so I can send a fax.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer twice and it did't fix the problem

Adding one more name to the list of people with this problem.  I followed all of the install/reinstall suggestions of HP Smart Software (and was optimistic when I saw the recent update in the apple store) but the problem remains the same - exactly as described by others.  THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SOFTWARE that needs to be addressed.  Has anyone figured out how to get HP to help with this?

Just to add one more piece of info here - I found an older mac (running 10.15.6 (Catalina) and opened HP Smart on that - just to see if it was an issue with the OS.  It worked!  I was able to connect to the printer, scan, etc.  That doesn't really help solve this on newer Macs - but thought I would add that in as a data point in case someone has a bright idea.

Well, I'm running catalina 10.15.7 and it doesn't work.

I just bought a HP Officejet 9015e

I downloaded HP Smart from the Apple App store onto my Macbook Pro running Big Sur 11.2.3

The app starts to open but then just crashes (disappears)

I restarted by Mac. No change.

I have no idea how to set up my brand new printer without the app.

If I can't figure it out, I'll return the printer and buy a different brand.

It's very frustrating.

I have two thoughts about this frustrating issue.  If you can return the HP 9015 and buy another manufacturer, do it. If not this solution worked for me:

1.  Uninstall HP Smart

2.  Go to the App Store and download VueScan

3. Install and open VueScan

4.  When it asks for login info and password just push continue

5.  This opens the trial version

6.  This worked for me with my HP 9015

7.  You will need to buy the app if it works for you

8.  It’s almost $100 to buy but that is cheaper that buying another non-HP printer.

Good luck!

I just updated HP Smart to version 12.9.0 that came out a couple days ago and it still doesn't work.

Note my recent post about VueScan.  I have found that it works, but it is not free(just cheaper) than a new printer.

I am adding my experience here, it might be helpful.

I my case I think it launches Google Chrome but it crashes. I have Microsoft Edge and Firefox as alternative browser.

In System Preferences -> General -> Default Web Browser, temporarily, I changed it to Microsoft Edge and tried again.

This time it worked and then I changed backed my default browser.

I just tried that using Chrome and Firefox.  Neither worked and it still doesn't work with Safari as default.
