Three months later and still no resolution to this major bug in the HP Smart software. This is appalling and needs to be either sorted out immediately or withdrawing the new version and letting us "update" to the old version which actually worked.

GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER HP AND GIVE US, YOUR CUSTOMERS, SOME PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE BY GETTING THIS MAJOR BUG RESOLVED.

Some of us are now getting very fed up and don't forget that this could effect future HP printer sales. Take note!!

Tried disabling the Auto-Enhancement and worked first time but now doesn't work again. This issue needs resolving.

Does anyone know how to get the old version back as that worked perfectly for me?

My computer did a Windows 10 update last night, and this morning my HP Smart seems to be working again.  Fingers crossed!!

After saying that a Windows 10 update would be the solution I attempted to use the HP Smart app after that but it's still got the major bug present.

We really do need to be able to roll back this flawed app to the previous one that worked as this present version is garbage to put it mildly and HP seem unwilling to resolve it.

Is there anywhere I can download the previous version?

Yet another user with the same problem! Seems that no one from HP bothers reading these forums, otherwise would have been easy for them to solve it - even if it implies going back to the previous version.

Unfortunately don't think that Windows Store allows for a "downgrade" which for many of us would be an UPGRADE!

And I have all of Windows 10 updates, but no change in the way HP Scan works.

I  had a similar problem as other posters. Clicked the icon on the HP Solution Centre  on an HP All in One C4480 ( so an old one) and the picture came up then was covered with a white square with F & I on and then nothing. One day it worked the next week it didn't.

Following an HP link I was able to download HP Scan Extended.

It is a bit rough and ready but was able to scan, the scan has  also very rough output .

There is also another Scan program available via a link from HP that is from Microsoft which gives you a choice of resolutions from 75 -2400 ( which I assume is dependant on the scanner) plus you have a choice of output file  including TIFF, Bitmap, XPS,PNG though personally PDF or JPEG is good enough for me. By the look of the program it looked more professional than the HP Scan Extended.

Sorry I cannot give you the links as they came through the troubleshooting set up.

Obviously HP as well as MS are reducing quality and quantity of what they supply and not maintaining what they supply. If it was a an Adobe problem, how come its just raised its head after 15 years as I have had the printer that long, or are they cutting costs as well?

I'm having the same problem. I checked the firmware and it is up to date. Mine is a Pro 8710. When I scan something and try to edit it where I just simply try to get it to the right orientation, the edit function seems to do it, but when I hit done, the edit does not save most of the time. It is rather hit or miss, with mostly misses. The problem is not the printer, it is the app.

Still working? No luck with me, in spite of updates to updates, etc.

HP still refusing to bother with a solution!! @$@#()*#@$%

Tried that but didn't work for me.

Anyway, HP should give us a solution no matter what workaround we're trying

In the continued absence of any action by HP to resolve this major flaw in the HP Smart app perhaps we all ought to start sending an email to the head of HP's Imaging, Printing and Solutions section which deals with the printing hardware?

To this aim does anyone know the name of the person concerned and his/her email address?

Yes it's a bit of a drastic measure but seems to be the only way to attempt to get any action on this long running problem which they seem to be ignoring. It's gone on for too long now.
