Solved!

HP Smart now asks if I want to share data and keeps repeating regardless of the answer.

HP Recommended
OfficeJet Pro 6835
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OS is Windows 10 64 bit.  Have been using HP Smart for scanning, etc.  Just today, it asked if I want to share data with HP.  Regardless of my answer (yes or no button), it keeps repeating the question and will not proceed to let me use it's functionality.

This looks like a result of Adobe Flash being removed.  

 

Try this:

HP Solution Center Adobe Flash player error

I downloaded and installed HPScanExt.msi and am using the HP Printer Assistant rather than HP Smart and am able to scan again on my HP 6835 Pro.  I prefer the functionality of HP Printer Assistant over HP Smart for scanning anyway.
