Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. HP Smart pushed an update. Now when scanning ( about 80% of my use of the printer ), when I choose the Document Feeder before scanning, it will scan the glass. I have to reload a couple of times before the document feeder will work. To make matters worse, this happens at the beginning of every document I want to scan. I used HP Doctor and it says my printer is working correctly. I called Tech Support and was just told to uninstall and reinstall the printer software. Don't they test these updates before they push them out?

I understand you are facing issues while using the HP Smart app for scanning from the document feeder. 

 

Did you reinstall the app with the latest version and check if that helps?

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

If the issue persists, use the HP Scan Extended app to scan and check if that helps.

You can Download-Save-Install > HP Scan Extended

HP still has problems with the failure of their May update and July "fix".  My files save 7 times larger in color and 15 times larger in B&W compared to Adobe Acrobat at 300 DPI.

  HP  is aware of this issue, although I haven't seen it reported in this forum by anyone but me.  An fix was complete and would be sent out August 23 supposedly, according to a tech I talked to yesterday.  Don't hold your breath.
