Hi @shirleyt1 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with the scanning quality of your HP DeskJet 3760 All-in-One Printer. Faded and unreadable scans can be caused by various factors, including settings, hardware issues, or software conflicts. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check Scanner Glass and Document Feeder: Ensure that the scanner glass and document feeder (if applicable) are clean and free from any smudges or debris. Even a small mark on the glass can affect scan quality.
 - Adjust Scan Settings: Sometimes, the default scan settings may not be optimal for your needs. Try adjusting the scan settings such as resolution, color mode, and brightness/contrast to see if it improves the scan quality. You can usually access these settings through your scanning software or the printer's control panel.
 - Update Scanner Drivers: Even though you're using Windows 10 in S mode, you should still be able to update drivers through the Windows Update feature. Check if there are any updates available for your printer/scanner drivers and install them.
 - Reinstall Printer/Scanner Software: If updating drivers doesn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer/scanner software. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features, selecting your printer software, and choosing to uninstall it. Then, download the latest software from the HP website and install it.
 - Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes address issues related to scanning and printing. Update the firmware on an HP printer
 - Test with Different Documents: Sometimes, the issue may be specific to certain types of documents or papers. Try scanning different documents using various settings to see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
