I've just a new HP6950 and it's printing wrong coloured lines across all images. Looks like i need to align the print head but I can't get it to scan the printed alignemnt page no matter how many times I've tried. It simply says page can't be scanned, i try again with the same result and then have to start the process again. Can anyone suggest how I can resolve this problem please?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand, you're unable to scan the alignment page,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Are you able to make a copy?
How is the copy quality?
When was the last time it worked fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes made?
Are you able to make a scan of the regular document?
Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:
To Align the printhead, follow these steps:
-
Load plain white paper in the input tray.
-
From the printer control panel, open the Setup
menu.
-
Open the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.
-
Touch Align Printhead.
An alignment page prints.
-
Wait until the page is out of the printer before you remove it.
NOTE: Alignment page does not require scanning.
For the print quality issue, you could refer to this link: Click here
Step 1: Reinstall the print driver (Windows only)
Step 2: Clean the printhead
Step 3: Use genuine HP cartridges
Step 8: Replace any low or empty cartridges
Step 9: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly
Step 10: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
Step 15: Clean the printhead
Let me know how this goes,
Cheers!
