I understand you are trying to scan multiple pages. I found a wonderful document which will help you to get it done.
Go to http://hp.care/2cCiIuH and select “Use the HP Easy Scan app (OS X 10.9 and later)”. Please go through the details and settings to better use the app. Also, if you scroll down you will see a section which says “Save multiple page documents or multiple photos into a single file”. That should explain the process clearly.
