I want to scan images and save them as something better than JPG, how can I do this? I've seen previous so-called "solutions" that say to download the full-feature driver and I've done this but I still only have the option to save as PDF or JPG. What's the point of buying a scanner that can scan to 1200 DPI if I have to save as a crappy JPG? I would also like to use software other than just the HP software, but at this point I would be content with the ability to save as other file formats.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community. Yes you can save as other formats.
Can you download and install the HP FULL Solution Software for your operating system:
This example will be helpful:

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
Under HP Scan, select "Everyday Scan": it will have the following "File Types" (example)
Hope that helps.
