Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Hi @Dragon-Fur

@bobc0745

1. HP Smart allows USB connection.  Have seen this being done with another printer model but should work for this printer model as well.  Hope you have an USB cable (since it doesn't come in box).

Follow the steps in this resource (example)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_CwQwStgM4

2. Install the HP FULL software solution  (with USB)

https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-pro-6400-all-in-one-printer-serie...

Download and install the HP FULL software solution.

Example :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikFTUI7KHvo

(at time 1:39, select Manual Setup instead of Automatic Setup)

Choose USB.

Note: Only connect USB cable when prompted!

The above 2 methods will allow printing and scanning without Wifi.

Hope that helps!

@greenturtle

Thanks.

The printer apparently works with Wi-Fi Direct.

HP Smart cannot do so.

OK.  How-to guide does not specifically mention the "Direct" wireless method - that is why.

Something to consider.

Appreciate the heads-up.

Disappointing, but we don't control the answers.

@bobc0745

Apologies offered.

I mis-stepped.

In so much that I am aware, HP Scan and Capture might work in your limited environment - and the application includes a decent sized scan window.

HP Scan and Capture - Microsoft Store (formally Windows Store) - Requires Windows 8 or higher

Paint (mspaint)

  • Find software on your computer >  Paint

Maybe

NAPS2 – “Not Another PDF Scanner”

  • Download-Save-Install >  NAPS2
  • Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
  • Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)
  • Read the Support pages for information
  • Download, save, and install the NAPS2 software to use.

Possibly this one...

Windows Scan – Microsoft Store (formally Windows Store) - Requires Windows 8 or higher
