HP Deskjet 2755e user guide has no answer regarding setting a preferred scan folder to eliminate changing it from default destination (and scan naming format) for EVERY scan
using Windows 10 64 bit
using HP Smart app
I just want to know how to set a preferred destination folder for organizational purposes.
A secondary question is why is it do difficult to find a relevant solution.
Many irrelevant and non-existent solutions found thru Google and HP website guidance.
Thank you

Hi @murrayatuptown,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Setting a preferred scan folder in HP Smart app on Windows 10 for your HP Deskjet 2755e can indeed improve your workflow. Unfortunately, it seems like the user guide doesn't provide a direct solution for this specific feature. However, there might be a workaround you can use.
- Default Windows Settings: Check if Windows 10 itself provides an option to set a default scan folder. You can often do this through Windows settings, which may override the HP Smart app settings.
- Scan Shortcut: You can create a shortcut to your preferred scan folder on your desktop. When scanning, use HP Smart app, but then choose to save the scanned document to the shortcut on your desktop. This won't change the default setting but can streamline the process for you.
Regarding your secondary question, why it's difficult to find relevant solutions, it could be due to a few reasons:
- Feature Absence: Sometimes, the feature you're looking for simply isn't available in the current version of the software or hardware. In such cases, users often resort to workarounds.
- Variety of Models and Software Versions: With the multitude of printer models, software versions, and operating system updates, finding specific solutions can be challenging. What works for one model may not work for another, leading to confusion.
In conclusion, while setting a preferred scan folder directly through the HP Smart app may not be available, you can explore alternatives like default Windows settings or using shortcuts to streamline your scanning process.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you.
I was wrong about having to 'target' a different folder than default each time. Occasionally HPSMART returns to the tile screen where Scan has to be selected again and .jpg if desired reselected over .PDF default.
This was infrequent and could be the PC that caused that.
I agree with what you say about feature absence...this printer replaced an HP All-in-One that refused to die for many years, if not decades. I replaced it because it was getting difficult to find the ink. I was probably looking for features in older software and was taunted by Google giving me things from different eras and products, leading me to think what I was seeking did exist.
I have a fairly efficient workflow going now. I am still not getting anywhere with the Shortcuts. It may be partially Operator Error but not completely.
I will be done with this large project in another day, so I can experiment with my next project folder Shortcut. Or not bother. I can use it without Shortcuts.
Thank you for the answers.
