How to make my Smart tank 7301 copy darker and scan darker? I had previously found some way via the HP Smart software, but I can't find it again.

Welcome to the HP Community --

The printer lacks a full touchscreen Printer Control Panel of the type needed to support the extra Copy options (for example, Resize or other settings).

Copy on this printer is as you see it described in the printer's user manual.

HP Smart - Windows - supports Scan > Preset Document / Photo and an Edit feature that includes "Adjust".

Adjust can be used to increase / decrease the color, hue, and visual intensity of the scanned content.

Reminder for those reading:

HP+ enabled printers and select non-HP+ printers include additional scan / print features.

Your printer might not be an exact match to the example(s) included in this message.

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan - Preset = Document 

Select the Edit option after the content / page is scanned and Detect Edges are corrected / checked and before selecting other actions (for example, Save)

See Section #3 in the example  - Select Edit from the "three dot" menu

Note

"Filters" -- another Edit feature -- does not increase or decrease color intensity but can be used (for example) to change content scanned in color to a Black / White or other visual format.

Whaqt a wonderfully complete and helpful reply! [Something as rare as Dragon-fur].

I had once discovered this way to darken by s cans; but I had blanked on it.

I think I have found a work-around for too-light copies: scan the original first, darken it as you have specified, then print it. Use the darker print to make a darker copy.
