Hi HP gurus,
How can I scan a document to computer as pdf from the panel of the printer? I have bought a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP Printer M283fdw. When I select Scan to computer, it's a jpg file in Windows\Scan document folder.
I just cannot find any settings in the panel to allow me to choose scan as pdf.
From what I google, the solutions from google and YouTube appear to be using HP Scan app and HP Smart app. But it means going back and forth from printer to computer. So weird that there is no settings to scan as pdf from the printer.
Thank you in advance

Hi Elohi_NR,
The steps you asked me to see are steps to installing and using HP Smart app to scan.
This is not helping to solve my problem.
My problem or question is how to scan into a PDF using the Printer LED control panel. When I press scan at the LED control panel, it's always scanned as jpg. How to change this setting at the LED control panel?
Weird that HP does not provide scan options at the panel.
Thank you,
Chee

Log into the embedded web server by entering the IP address of the printer into a browser address bar. You may be able to change the default scan type there.. Refer to the user guide for more starting on page 63 information: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06431905.pdf

Hi Repairatrooper,
Thanks very much for your reply and trying to help.
But I don't wish to change the default scan type to pdf because there will be time when I want to scan photos as jpg.
I just regretted switching from Cannon to HP printer. Cannon gives user scan options at the printer LED panel.
I will just live with this limitation.
Appreciate your help.
