Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
I understand that you want to scan to your iPad, need not worry I'll be glad to assist you.
Have you tried any steps before posting on forum?
However, let's follow the below steps
Step 1: Install the HP Smart app
Install the HP Smart app on your Apple iOS 9 or later iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. After installation, launch the app and then add your printer.
Video overview
-
Make sure your Apple iOS device is connected to the same wireless network that your current printer is connected to, or that you want to connect a new printer to.
-
On your Apple iOS device, download and install the HP Smart app (in English) from the App Store.
-
After installation, open the app, and then tap Start.
Figure : Tapping Start on the welcome screen
-
Accept the terms and conditions, and then tap Continue.
The app searches for printers connected to the network.
-
If you have one printer already connected to the wireless network, the app automatically selects your printer. If you have more than one printer on the network, tap the plus sign
, and then select your printer from the list.

-
If you are setting up a new printer on a network, tap the plus sign
, tap Add Printer, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer setup.
-
If you experience issues during printer setup, see What if I am unable to complete the printer setup using the app? in the Frequently asked questions (FAQs) section of this document.
Step 2: Print or scan documents and photos
Print documents or photos saved on your mobile device or from your cloud or social media accounts. Scan documents or photos from your printer or use your mobile device camera to scan items.
Scan a document or photo from your printer
Scan a document or photo with your mobile device camera
Step 3: Check ink levels, order supplies, and access printer settings, information, and reports
The HP Smart app allows you to check printer supplies, view printer information and reports, and change printer settings.
For information on how the app provides printer error and special offer notification, go to the What if my printer displays an issue when I open the app section in the Frequently asked questions (FAQs).
Step 4: Personalize the home screen (optional)
You can personalize the HP Smart app home screen tiles. Rearrange the tiles in the order you want for quick access.
NOTE:
Some tiles, such as the Personalize tile, are fixed in position and cannot be rearranged.
-
To rearrange the tiles, on the home screen press and hold the tile you want to move, and then drag it to the desired location.
-
To turn tiles on or off, tap the Personalize tile, and then tap the On/Off toggle on the items you want to add (on) or remove (off) from the home screen. Tap Done to save any changes and return to the home screen.
