my HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 is not scanning to PDF where it has never been a problem in the past it scans to Microsoft Word instead, but you can’t even read it if it’s in word it’s just mumble jumbo. to scan anything I have to use the JPEG option

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

 

Check HP Scan Software Settings

  • Open HP Scan on your computer.
  • Select "Scan to PDF" as the file type.
  • If PDF is not an option, reinstall the HP Smart or HP Scan software.

Use HP Smart App

  • Download HP Smart from the HP website or Microsoft Store.
  • Select Scan > Save as PDF and try scanning again.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall the printer from Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Download and install the latest drivers from HP Support.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and restart.

Use Windows Fax & Scan (Alternative)

  • Open Windows Fax & Scan (built-in on Windows).
  • Click New Scan, select PDF, and scan your document.
