For nearly two hours I have treid to get my Smart Tank 7600 to scan above 300 DPI. IT won't. HPscan INSTALLED max DPI 300; HP Scan Assistant max DPI 300;. Specs say 1200 DPI max and I never get any choice above 300. This is false advertising. Everywhere I turn, I see people with the same problem and no solution.

Review
HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.
The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.
NOTES:
HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.
The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.
Where the Printer Assistant is no longer part of the full driver printer software, the full driver instead provides a Desktop Shortcut for the HP Scanner Assistant and access to the new format “HP Scan” (HP Universal Scan).
If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.
No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.
Note: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.
- Printer Assistant – Desktop Shortcut named for the printer model. Part of the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.
- HP Scan – Original Format – Desktop Shortcut is named for the printer model.
- HP Scan Assistant – Desktop Shortcut for full driver printer software no longer supports the Printer Assistant
- HP Scan -- New Format – Desktop Shortcut is self-named “HP Scan”. Part of the Full Feature Software / full driver for select printers – Includes the ability to switch between supported printer models using Setting Gear at the top of the application.
- HP Universal Scan software – Desktop Shortcut is self-named “HP Scan”. Functionally a match to the new format HP Scan provided in select new printers full driver software.
