I want to scan multiple pages into one document with HP Easy Scan (not!) on my MacBook Air. This used to be easy with my former printer/scanner and now it's taking me hours on multiple days to try to figure It out. Very frustrating!!
Please someone help.

Hi @deborawkart,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Scanning multiple pages into one document using the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus E-All-In-One Printer on your MacBook Air should be straightforward with the correct settings. Here’s how you can do it:
Using HP Easy Scan
Install HP Easy Scan
- Ensure you have the latest version of HP Easy Scan installed on your MacBook Air. You can download it from the Mac App Store.
Open HP Easy Scan
- Launch HP Easy Scan from your Applications folder.
Select Your Printer
- In HP Easy Scan, select your HP Officejet Pro 8600 from the "Scanner" drop-down menu.
Choose Scan Settings
- Set the scan source to "Document Feeder" if you are using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for multiple pages, or "Flatbed" for manual scanning.
- Ensure the "Format" is set to "PDF" to combine multiple pages into one document.
- Adjust any other settings as needed (e.g., resolution, color).
Scan Multiple Pages
- Document Feeder: Place all the pages you want to scan into the ADF.
- Flatbed: Place the first page on the flatbed scanner.
- Click on "Scan."
Continue Scanning
- If you are using the flatbed scanner, after scanning the first page, you will be prompted to place the next page on the scanner. Continue this process until all pages are scanned.
Save the Document
- Once all pages are scanned, click on "Edit" in the HP Easy Scan toolbar if you need to reorder or delete any pages.
- Click on "Save" or "Send" to save the document. Choose the destination folder and file name for the scanned PDF.
Using Preview (Alternative Method)
Open Preview
- Open the Preview application from your Applications folder.
Select File > Import from Scanner
- Select "File" from the menu bar, then "Import from Scanner" and choose your HP Officejet Pro 8600.
Choose Scan Settings
- Set the scan source to "Document Feeder" or "Flatbed" as needed.
- Ensure the "Format" is set to "PDF."
- Adjust other settings as required.
Scan Multiple Pages
- Document Feeder: Place all pages into the ADF and click "Scan."
- Flatbed: Place the first page on the flatbed, click "Scan," and continue placing each subsequent page on the flatbed when prompted.
Combine Scanned Pages
- Preview will automatically combine all scanned pages into a single PDF document.
- When finished, select "File" > "Save" to save the document to your desired location.
- Software Updates: Ensure your macOS and HP software/drivers are up to date.
- Check ADF Functionality: If using the ADF, ensure it is clean and functioning correctly.
- HP Support: If you continue to face issues, consider reaching out to HP Support for additional assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
