Using HP Smart to scan a photo, after editing to crop the photo, about half the time, the image returned is skewed or distorted as in the attached. I'm on HP Smart 18.104.22.168. The work around is to do it again and again until by luck you get a proper image.
Paint can be sued to scan - it is not a perfect choice in some ways - it does work and it won't surprise you.
