Hi
I would appreciate your advice on my inability to scan from my printer control panel after making a USB connection with my PC. Previously it was set up as a wireless printer.
I have been getting msgs like 'Scan to computer is not activated', 'The connection to the computer has been lost' & 'The HP Scan Application encountered an internal error. Pls restart app & try again.'
There is no problem using the HP scan software in my PC to perform scan or print functions from my mobile device.
I have tried various ways to troubleshoot e.g. to turn off my printer & restarting, performing the HP Print & Scan Doc, restarting my PC but to no avail.
Your advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi @Chrissy_61
Thanks for your feedback.
If it's connected via USB, the Scan to Computer is there on your printer front panel by default.
Please go to your front panel and select "Scan to.." your computer should be listed.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
How to Scan to Computer
Once you have installed the software:
1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Hope that helps!

Hi
Thanks for your help & advice.
I used to have a “Manage Scan to Computer” option when it was a wireless setup but since I set up the USB connection, it is no longer there under the san menu. Now I only have a single option i.e. 'Scan a doc or photo'.
Thank you.
