Just purchased HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw. Installed full software package, connected using USB cable. Using HP's scan software, I cannot scan and save as PDF. It scans, shows preview, and I can make adjustments to image. But when it saves the PDF, it opens as a blank page. It does not have this problem when it saves as a .jpg file. Then it works correctly. It will not save as a PDF. Have already uninstalled software and downloaded current version and installed. Please help. Thank you.

Hello @ptb1, Thanks for becoming an HP forum member. I would be glad to assist you with your issue regrading PDF scan issue with your LaserJet M277dw printer.
Going through your post, its either regarding the HP Full feature software package or an issue with Adobe reader application. Since you have already re-installed the software package, I would advise you to un-install and re-install the Adobe reader as well.
Alternatively, I also suggest you to go to the link http://hp.care/2bUVkrw and download the “HP scan and capture” app. This app will also help you in scanning and saving files in .pdf more efficiently.
Let me know how it goes. 🙂

I downloaded the HP Scan and Capture as you recommended, and the same thing happens. The scans open as blank pages in Nitro PDF. I checked at the Nitro PDF website, and here is what they had to say:
"I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Nitro Pro 6 and I'm happy to assist you with your query.
In regards to your concerns it sounds like that document is coming from a Hewlett Packard scanner. When scanning documents from some HP scanners to PDF, opening these in Nitro causes the banner "This file was damaged (corrupted) and has been repaired" to display, resulting in a blank initial page.
This is a problem particular to HP scanners not creating the PDF correctly."
This is a post from November 2013. HP scanners have been doing this for three years! Why has HP not addressed and corrected this problem for three years?

Hello @ptb1, Thanks for your reply.
I thank you for trying the HP scan and capture app. I understand you are using the Nitro pro 6 software to work with pdf’s, but how about trying with the Adobe reader as well?
Using adobe reader will help us isolate the issue. You can visit http://hp.care/2bDxXCi to download the adobe reader free of charge.
Once installed the Adobe reader, please try to scan a pdf file and try opening with the adobe and let us know whether it works.
Cheers!

I installed the Adobe Reader for which you provided the link. A file scanned and saved as PDF does open correctly in Adobe Reader. This does not help me, because the files still open as blank pages in Nitro PDF. I can't work with files in Adobe Reader- after all, it is just a PDF reader. Most attempts to work with the file and you are prompted to purchase Adobe Pro. I already have a program to work with PDFs, Nitro PDF. Thanks, but I don't see how this helped me.

Hello @ptb1, Thanks for your reply.
It looks like it’s an issue with the Nitro pdf 6 software, because, if it was an issue with the scanner, the file would not have opened in Adobe reader as well. I would suggest you to uninstall the Nitro pdf, reinstall the software and try again.
I also went through the Nitro pdf forum that you have mentioned above and found that they even have a downloadable utility to fix this particular issue. Did you try that fix? If not please try installing that utility and check. You can download the utility here: http://support.nitropdf.com/entries/30129817-Blank-page-when-downloading-from-Adobe-Reader
Please let me know how it goes.

I have tried that fix. It will then open in Nitro. The bothersome part of that fix is that first, you have to open that fix, then find the file and drag it into the fix's window, and then find it again and open it in Nitro. If you open the file first in Nitro, it is a blank page. I have been able to come up with a solution that works, but I don't know why.
If I first open Nitro PDF, then, under the "create and convert" tab, choose "From Scanner" I will get this window
Then, if I choose "scan", I get this, with the "Nitro PDF Professional" choice, which does not appear in the HP software.
I then scan, and the document will save and be openable in Nitro. Do you know why Nitro PDF can open the file using this method, but not when using HP software?
As a side thought, I have found that the HP twain software does not provide very good quality scanned documents, even when using 600 dpi.

Hello ptb1!
I certainly do appreciate your efforts in finding a solution. But I am afraid, I don’t know why the Nitro PDF is behaving the way it is.
I will certainly keep an open eye for this issue and will let you know if something comes up 🙂
If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us again. Have a great day!
Cheers! 🙂

After downloading the new software, the device would not scan into PDF. I downloaded the HP scan app and it is so slow, I am thinking about replacing the device. When I first purchased the printer/scanner it was pretty fast. Now it is extremely slow.
Does anyone know why it is not working like it used to?
