Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

MFP M428
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

With MFP 428, attempting to scan from the printer to a computer returns "Scan unsuccessful". That seems to be the result of a prompt at the destination computer to select a method - either "WIndows Fax and Scan Application" or "Scan". Is there a means to set either one (preferably the Windows App) as the default so as to avoid the prompt?

TIA.

Answer my own question, made possible after seeing this

Once the printer is installed and added Settings ->Devices->Printers & scanners:

Click on the printer & select Manage

The printer name is actually in a selection box. Click on the down arrow to select the scanner.

Click on Scanner properties

For me, at least, there are two icons, with the one on the right pre-selected. For that icon click on Properties.

Click on Yes in the UAC dialog box.

Select the Events tab & select Start this program. For me it was the Windows Fax & Scan App

Click on Ok then Close.

See how simple and obvious all this is?
