MacOs Catalina using Easy Scan

Don’t hold you breath. I’m done with HP. Going out this afternoon to buy an Epson.

Who in HP is responsible for resolving this? I sense Corporate inertia and hand washing. HP has had months to fix this.

Not only does the update not work under Catalina, but it breaks stuff, like the ability to open picture files, PDF. I think because it damages Preview. I had to remove it by the roots and reboot.  I would not dare to try the MacOS App by the same name on the app store. Has anyone tried it?

I thought about using the Easy Scan application from App Store but it has not been updated for more than 1 year, hence I gave up.

Has anyone had a success with Vuescan, since HP does not seem to have a scheduled release date for a fix of the Easy Scan - Catalina incompatibility problem for the near future?

A few posts back someone said that it is fast but lacked some features like cropping. Sounds like it is worth a shot. The current workarounds are very insufficient for 2 sided scanning and/or multiple pages. I am currently using my laptop with pre Catalina OS to scan. It’s the best workaround for me. Though I may give Vuescan a try and would appreciate if you post after your experience. Good Luck.

P.s. HP is atrocious. I am shopping for my next printer.scanner now and it WILL NOT be an HP. Will be putting ink cartridges for sale on Ebay soon...

So one option that has just worked for me is to goto app store and download HPsmart and that is a new integrated piece of software that does all in one and it allows print and scan does work on Catalina

I've just tested Vuescan and it is working fine for me. I can even scan with OCR and the automatic feeder and in duplex mode.

I got excited about the HPSmart... but alas, that wont download from App Store. I read reviews and others have had problems on their desktops as well. Back to VUESCAN option. Thanks for the testing update of Vuescan. downloading now.

I just downloaded HP SMART from the MacOS store and it works with my Office Jet Pro 8600 to scan documents.
