Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP OfficeJet6954
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After 2 sessions with HP Tech Support, my OfficeJet printer was finally set up to print and scan from my HP desktop.

Now, when I go to my local printer panel, I see multiple duplicate entries for scanning, etc.  Considering  the small size of the panel, this makes it unwieldy to select the right scanning application.

How do I clean up the duplicate entries?

Consider that I tried for 2 weeks to have my printer connect to my desktop before I contacted HP Tech Support and I am reluctant to lose the print and scan setups.

Hi @knute97,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you want to delete the duplicate entries for your HP OfficeJet 6954 All-in-One Printer.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

And here are a few steps:

1. Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Devices and Printer."

2. Right-click the original version of the printer and select "Printer Properties."

3. Click "Print Test Page" from the General tab to test the printer's functionality.

4. Look for a yellow exclamation point in front of the printer in the Devices and Printer window, which indicates a problem. If you don't see an exclamation point, but the printer does not print the test page, right-click the printer and select "See What's Printing." Look for an error in the Status column. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your computer before giving up on it.

5. Repeat the process for each copy, if you conclude the original printer does not work. Locate a copy that works and keeps that copy.

Removing Printer Copies

1. Open the "Devices and Printers" window again.

2. Right-click the copy you want to delete and select "Remove Device."

3. Click "Yes" in the confirmation window. If you had to keep a copy, you might want to rename it, so it appears to be the original version without having "(Copy #)" appended.

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Thank you for the reply, but I was referring to multiple entries on the local printer panel under the scan option as follows:

As I stated in my previous posting, I spent 2 weeks on my own trying to set up the print & scan from my HP Desktop to my new HP printer.  Finally, I called HP Tech Support on 2 occasions before they could make the connections.

(Since I don't have a detailed description of what was done, I am reluctant to change or delete to much for fear of losing the connections.)

BTW, I will be posting another problem separately since I see 2 printers listed in "Devices and Printers".  One that the HP tech setup as my default printer (Network) and a second on (Network Copy#1) that shows when I activate the HP Printer Assistant.  Both printers show no linkage to printing a test page!

Hi @knute97,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the multiple entries are for scanning.

I suggest that you scan to HP Desktop and see if it works. If yes, then delete all the other entries.

For the network printer entry, select the Network Copy#1 as default and delete the other.

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Thank you for the reply.

Your second suggestion will be implemented.

As to deleting the entries on the local printer panel, there is limited documentaton from HP supplied with the printer -- a major deficiency and severe handicap on installing, using and troubleshooting the printer!

I have never had a printer that did not come with support documentation other than a basic information sheet that tells you to log on to the internet!

@knute97, Thanks for your response and time.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you needed to know how to delete multiple entries from your printer control panel.

Try restoring the printer settings to default and check if it helps.

If you disable some functions or change some settings and want to change them back, you can restore the
printer to the original factory settings or network settings.
To restore the printer to the original factory defaults
1.
On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, swipe left to see ( Setup ) and touch
 ( Setup ).
2. Touch Tools, touch Restore Factory Defaults and then follow the onscreen instructions.

Refer the printer user guide for more information.

Note: Refer page 127 for more information.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
