Hi @Sbwalker01,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To scan multiple pages as a single document rather than as separate files, you generally need to adjust the settings on your scanner or printer software. Here’s a general guide to help you:
For Windows:
Open Scanner Software: Open the scanning software that came with your printer or scanner. This might be called something like "HP Smart", "Epson Scan", "Canon IJ Scan Utility", etc.
Select the Scan Type: Choose the type of scan you want to perform. Look for options such as “Document” or “Photo”, depending on what you’re scanning.
Check for "Multiple Pages" or "Auto-Detect" Options:
- Look for an option like “Multi-Page”, “Auto-Detect”, or “Batch Scan”. This setting allows the software to combine multiple scans into one file.
- If you’re using Windows Fax and Scan, you might need to select “Document” and then look for the “Multiple Pages” option.
Scan All Pages: Place the pages in the scanner. If you’re using an automatic document feeder (ADF), place all the pages in the feeder. If you’re scanning manually, scan each page, making sure to follow any prompts to add more pages.
Save the Document: After scanning, save the document in the desired format (PDF is common for multi-page documents).
For macOS:
Open Preview: Open the Preview app. You can find it in your Applications folder or use Spotlight search.
Select Import from Scanner: Go to “File” > “Import from Scanner” or “Import from [Your Scanner’s Name]”.
Choose Scan Settings:
- In the scan settings, select “Document” rather than “Photo”.
- Look for an option that says “Multiple Pages” or similar.
Scan and Combine Pages: If using an ADF, load all pages and scan them. If scanning manually, scan each page individually and choose to add to the existing document.
Save the File: Once all pages are scanned, go to “File” > “Save” to save the combined document.
For All-In-One Printers with Scanning Functionality:
Access Printer's Software: Open the software provided by your printer manufacturer on your computer.
Find Scanning Options: Look for a setting that allows multi-page scanning or batch scanning. This might be under “Scan Settings” or similar.
Use Automatic Document Feeder (ADF): If your printer has an ADF, you can place multiple pages in the feeder and select the option to scan all pages in one document.
Save Your Document: After scanning, save the file in your preferred format.
If you’re having trouble finding the exact settings, refer to the user manual for you
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
