Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw is connected wirelessly and seems to print fine from my desktop system.  When I go to HP Smart, ist shows "offline" and won't scan.  I've tried to reinstall the sofware and remove/reattach the printer to the system, but I can't solve the problem.

Can you help me with this issue?

@rsh11, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Try uninstalling the HP Smart app and reinstalling it back again.

Uninstall the app from your Windows 10 device through the All Apps list.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Apps & features.

    Searching for Apps & features

  2. Click HP Smart in the list of apps, and then click Uninstall.

    Uninstalling HP Smart app

Install the HP Smart App and add your printer.

  1. On your Windows 10 device, go to HP Smart (in English) to get the app from the Windows Store, and then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the app.

The app searches for printers connected to the network.

  2. Add the printer to your network.

    • If you have one printer connected to the network, the app automatically selects your printer. If you have more than one printer on the network, click the printer icon , click Select a Different Printer, and then select your printer from the list.

      Selecting a printer

    • If you are setting up a new printer on the network, click the plus sign , click Set up a new printer, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. If you have more than one printer on the network and want to set up a new printer, click the plus sign , click Add printer not listed, click Set up a new printer, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Try Scanning and see if that helps.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Cheers 🙂
