HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

When scanning a text document the result is a full page of vertical colored lines. The firmware won't upgrade as I'm on OS 10.13.6 High Sierra. I've reinstalled the driver from HP on the computer, unplugged from printer and wall then plugged back in and still the same. It was working fine for a long time, but now just vertical lines either trying to scan directly from the printer or using the HP Easy Scan app. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance for the reply

How does it copy ?

Copies the same....vertical lines filling the page.

That confirms you have a hardware issue with your device, and it needs to be repaired/replaced if under warranty.

The warranty expired a long time ago. The HP folder does not have an Uninstall button and I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Other than the copy/scan problem it works fine. Any other ideas? I don't use the scan/copy very much but it'd be nice to have when needed. Thanks again for all the help!

The scanner is defective repair is needed. You can install it and uninstall it a hundred times the result will be the same.
