Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
I have Officejet Pro 8022, now guarantee is out.
Nevertheless after buying I needed comprehensive support from HP via remote login and finally (after hours) HP support get the printer via 'HP Scan extended' to provide OCR scan (save option 'PDF searchable').
I did setup a new HP(!) PC and I tried the offline complete printer software
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJP8020/HPEasyStart-13.4.8-OJP8020_49_10_4647_1_W...
but neither 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series-HP Scan'
nor the linke 'ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi' , which is installing 'HP Scan Extended'
(referenced in several forum posts) did help to get OCR scanning back working.

Any idea , what I can do?

Here is a comprehensive post by HP expert, but by trying this
- installing full driver package

- installing HP extended

the OCR feature is not available.

@:Dragon-Fur

I assume, that this printer is kind of 'special'.
It has been running with OCR - so it is capable and it was entioned in the Specs.
I do not want a work around- I simply want the feature I checked before buying.

Best regards,
Joerg

@Liese1, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

According to the printer specifications, this model printer does no support OCR scanning.

You may purchase the software from the OEM website if required. HP Scan extended app may or may not work. You may download it at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thats funny. When I bought the printer this was a feature I was focused on - and I have the HP page , dd. 03/2019 explicitely saying 'extended scanner functions: OCR' .  Afterwards I bought the printer (2 times ! - as well for my 80 year old father) and after purchasing I got the same link and info you just mentioned.
Strange but true: I insisted , that the technical doc in 03/2019 listed OCR as an feature and I had remote support and finally a nHP guy figured it out (after working on my old laptop)  and I COULD  use OCR . I have archived lots of documents using this feature. Unfortunately my guarantee is now off and nobody from HP take care anymore .
The May 2019 version doesn't mention OCR for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8022 All-in-One  anymore.

I am pretty sure this is related to content included in the driver package. And maybe HP meanwhile deleted the content from the driver package.  I still have chat copies and some screenshorts and the HP support working with
printui.exe /s
If you have access to HP support, please check my history.

Since this HP printer has lost blue printing capabilty - same way as my OfficeJet Pro HP6970 before - very short after 1 year operation....it is really disappointing.

regards,
Joerg

I understand your concern. However, I'm afraid the OCR feature is not available anymore with the HP printer software.

Yes, if the printer is out of warranty, you may not receive a free support from HP.

Regarding blue not printing, have you tried cleaning the printhead or replacing the Cyan ink cartridge?

Follow the steps mentioned in this document - Black Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Print a test page to check the result.

Let me know how it goes.

Not blue printing is another issue.

I still do not accept, that I buy a printer - it even called 'OFFICEJET PRO' , a feature is listed , to get me quiet, a support agent is configuring my PC to get it running (because it was mentioned in the Spec) and after Guarantee is OFF, I did not get any help to get the feature back again on my new PC.

That is ridiculous. That means nobody can rely on any product specification from HP, because HP can - if they want - update the Specification and delete features. And this is a product - not 10 years or older, but 3 years old!!

This I feel extremely screwed by HP.
