OfficeJet Pro 6960
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

This is the first time I am writing.

I just purchased an OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer.  I tried to copy a double-sided document via the document feeder.  However, in the "Copy" settings, I can only see 1->1 sided copy and 1->2 sided copy options.

Please advise how can I do a 2->2 sided copy?

I thought this printer is able to do 2->2 sided copy via the document feeder.  However, I cannot set it in the control panel.

Thanks!

Hi @DT6960, and @CCUE

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed your posts about how you cannot copy 2 sided documents automatically with the ADF with your HP Officejet 6960 printers. I am happy to look into this for you!

According to this printer's specifications it states: Automatic duplexing (two-sided copying) from ADF, 6970 series only. So this printer does not have this functionality you would need the HP Officejet 6970 series in order to do this.

The specifications were not clear enough. The printer is useless to me if it cannot automatically scan and copy two-sided - which was why I bought it, thinking t had the capability. The only solution I can see is to throw it away once the ink supply has run out and buy another make which does the job

Hello Dvortex -

Would you kindly also bring this issue - MY very frustrating issue - to the attention of an appropriate team within HP?

I just purchased an HP 6968 for home use - running the latest updated Windows 10 .

I feel like the HP6968 printer's inadequacy & mechanical incapability was buried in marketing mumbo-jumbo so as to NOT specifically call out the fact that double-sided copying would at best be a manual reshuffling of pages because the ADF was not designed to handle that function ...

Is there a harware ADF replacement and firmware upgrade available or should I just do as customer JCIY said and use up the ink then throw the printer away ???

Thank you for your time and reply in advance,

RLawrence

O.k.  Just a heads up.  I have the 6960 and just successfully scanned 2 sided documents to 2 sided pdf.s in the correct order.  When HP says automatically vs manually, they are just saying that you can't just enter the 2 sided documents and it will spit out a pdf of both sides.  What you have to do is what they are describing as "manual".  All this requires if the full options software that you can download for free from hp.  Then you will scan the pages, looks like only about 40-50 tops, one way, with the front of the first page up, and the top of that page entering the scanner first, as usual.  Run them through.  If it won't feed, lower the number of pages and seperate them by chapter or marker however you see fit.  Once it's done scanning that side, then you will align the paper again so that:  1.  the back of the last page is facing up and 2. the top of that page will enter the scanner first.  Then let the software to its work.  It will stitch the pages in the order they are supposed to go based on the number of pages you scanned the first time.  You can adjust each page if it feeds crooked through the software, but it's not the smoothest, fyi.  Best of luck,  but you can scan two sided docs with minimal effort and the right software.

Thanks - I have just downloaded the latest firmware update, release date May 25, but there is no option that I can see for manual 2-sided scanning... Am I missing soemthing obvious? Or maybe it is that I use a mac and you are using a pc?

So...once you open the HP printer assistant, you will enable control of the printer from you computer(if you have that option).  Then under the scan tab, choose save to pdf., then there will be a drop down box for "page sides."  Select it and choose 2-sided manual.   If yours says 2 sided, and allows you to continue, I would assume it was "manual" and just follow my instructions from the last post.  See what happens.  GL

Is this advanced driver available for MAC?
