I am having this same issue. I want to manually scan double sided from my printer to my Mac, but there are no options for this in the Mac software. HP, DO YOU HAVE A SOLUTION? Why is that capability in the windows software, but not the Mac?

@muttdog

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 All-in-One Printer. I read that you would like to perform manual scan double sided from the printer to the Mac.

I did some research on this case and found that you can perform a manual duplex scan through the application such as HP Easy Scan or the APple Image Capture aplications.

Please refer to the following information from this HP document to perform duplex scanning:

  • Use the HP Easy Scan app (macOS and OS X 10.10 and later).
  • Use Apple Image Capture.

To enable the scan option from the printer front panel menu, turn on the Enable Scan to Computer function in HP Utility. HP Scan software or the HP Easy Scan app and a scan driver must be installed on the Mac to use the printer scan icon or button.

  1. On the Mac, open Finder , click Go in the top menu bar, click Applications, double-click the HP folder, then double-click HP Utility.

  2. Click All Settings, click Scan to Computer, then select the box next to Enable Scan to Computer.

  3. On the printer control panel, navigate to the scan menu or icon, then select your computer name.

  4. Select one of the available scan shortcuts, then touch or select Scan.

    A folder opens on the Mac where the scanned file has been saved.

I hope this information helps. Let me know. Cheers! 🙂

This solution still doesn’t say how to can 2 sided documents. In windows you can switch to “manually”, in the

mac-app I don’t see this possibility. How to scan / copy 2 sided documents in the right order?

Same here. The guy at Staples pretty much lied to my face telling me it would do 2-sided scanning.
