Officejet Pro 8600 Plus "scan to computer", "save as editable text", computer is PC with Win 7 and OJ Pro 8600 installed and operating normally, OJ Pro 8600 on a wired home network.
How does the 8600 name files and how can I control the names. My OJ Pro 8600 Plus is naming my text files using a name I once assigned to a scan several weeks ago instead of using some generic scan name or date!

- Specify the location to send saved scans on the computer
- Edit the file name of the saved scan
- Specify to create a new file for each scan or to combine multiple scans into one file
- Specify how the HP software completes the scan action:
- Opens the scan file
- Launches Windows Explorer
- Emails the scan
- Does nothing (saves scan to specified location)

Whew! I FINALLY stumbled across the place where I could set those "Advanced Settings"! Not on the SJPro 8600 control panel, not in the "Properties", "Printing Preferences", or "Printer Properties" sections of Windows "Devices and Printers", not in "Printer Setup and Software", but in the HP program that allows me to scan from my PC. Silly Me! I thought that was just a scanning program, not a program to control how the OJ 8600 SENT scans initiated on its control panel to my PC!

Just to be CLEAR about this I will spell it out...
I have "HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus" with Win 7 64B and HP FULL feature software installed. When I attempt to scan from the printer, I get this error:
"No Computer Found, To scan to a computer, make sure the feature is enabled. Windows: Open HP printer software, select Scanner Actions, and then select Manage Scan to Computer".
When I go to: "Start > All Programs > HP > HP Officejet Pro 8600 > HP Scan" (& open it), I CANNOT FIND: "Scanner Actions" or "Manage Scan to Computer".
Also, When I go to: "Start > All Programs > HP > HP Officejet Pro 8600 >HP Officejet Pro 8600" (& open it), I CANNOT FIND: "Scanner Actions" or "Manage Scan to Computer".
I've also looked at every "Advanced", "Advanced Setting" tab I can find and still CANNOT FIND: "Scanner Actions" or "Manage Scan to Computer".
So, I assume I'm looking in the wrong place but it would be nice if the error message told me exactly where to look. HELP, pls!

I have taken a screenshot of what the Officejet Pro 8600 software should look like on your PC. Please see below:
If this is not what your software looks like, then it is possible that you have an older version installed (possibly from a CD). I would advise uninstalling your software and reinstalling with the download provided below.

Let me know if this helps,

Hey rice1230,
The most up to date version is v28.8. It sounds like the older version you have has some broken links inside. Updating to the newest version should fix this issue.

I have had the same issues as the person describing the problem below. I have uninstalled and re-installed without any success.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the program using the link that you gave and it still doesn't allow me to get to the "advanced scan settings."
The screen shot that you have provided is NOT what I see on my screen. The only thing that comes up under my Scan area is "Scan a Document or Photo". There are no other icons that pop up.
Currently, I am using the following system and connection to the printer:
Window 7 - 64 bit
USB connection to Printer
Previously I had a computer with Window XP and used this same printer without any issues. Please advise as the next course of action to get this resolved since the solutions presented have not solved the problem.
