@loopygram, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for your question about printing on vellum paper and clear acrylic using your HP Envy 6165e All-in-One Printer (which is part of the Envy 6000e series). I’d be happy to help clarify what’s supported and how to proceed.
Printing on Vellum Paper
Yes, you can print on vellum paper with your HP Envy 6165e, but with some important considerations:
Tips for Printing on Vellum:
- Use Inkjet-Compatible Vellum: Ensure the vellum is labeled as “inkjet compatible” or “inkjet printable.” Laser vellum will not work well with inkjet printers.
- Paper Type Setting: In the print dialog, set the paper type to "Other Specialty Paper" or "Transparency" if available.
- Print Quality: Use Best or High Quality settings to reduce smudging.
- Drying Time: Allow extra time for the ink to dry completely before handling.
Printing on Clear Acrylic Sheets
Unfortunately, printing directly on clear acrylic is not supported by the HP Envy 6165e or most consumer-grade inkjet printers. Acrylic is non-porous and does not absorb ink, which leads to smearing or ink not adhering at all.
Alternative Options:
- Use Printable Transparency Film: Look for inkjet-compatible transparency sheets (like those from 3M or Apollo). These are designed for inkjet printers and can mimic the look of clear acrylic.
- Vinyl Stickers or Decals: Print your design on clear inkjet vinyl or sticker paper, then apply it to acrylic surfaces.
- Professional Printing Services: For direct acrylic printing, consider a local print shop with UV flatbed printers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
