Hello, can anyone help me please?
My Photosmart C4580 scan to computer has stopped working, it's been like this for a couple of years. I am currently on MacOS Sequoia 15.4.
The printer works but the scanner doesn't register in the icon information.
I've downloaded the HP app but it can't find my printer/scanner to bluetooth it nor does it recognise my IP address to add it.

@Kerry131, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're facing a frustrating issue with your HP Photosmart C4580 scanner not working properly. Let's try some simple troubleshooting steps to get it working again:
1. Check the Connection
Ensure that the printer/scanner is connected to your Mac via USB or Wi-Fi.
If using USB, try a different cable or port on your Mac.
If using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer and your Mac are on the same network.
2. Update Printer Drivers
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and remove the printer if it's listed.
Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers and software for your HP Photosmart C4580. Install it.
After installation, add the printer back in Printers & Scanners.
3. Restart Devices
Restart both your Mac and the HP Photosmart C4580 printer/scanner. Sometimes a simple reboot can fix recognition issues.
4. Use Preview or Image Capture for Scanning
Open Preview or Image Capture on your Mac.
In Preview, go to File > Import from Scanner.
In Image Capture, check if the scanner is listed. If it is, select it and try scanning again.
5. Reset the Printing System
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or control-click) in the list of printers and select Reset Printing System.
Add your printer back and try scanning again.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
Sometimes an update for your printer’s firmware can resolve scanning issues. Check the HP support page for firmware updates for your C4580.
