Hi @CNR3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your HP Color LaserJet Managed MFP E786 printer, specifically when trying to print from a MacBook using the HP secure printer driver and with scanning to email functionality. Let's go through some steps to troubleshoot these issues.
Printing Issue from MacBook
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest HP drivers installed. You can download them from the HP Support website.
Reset Printing System:
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click on the printer list (or Control-click) and select Reset printing system.
- Re-add your printer and try printing again.
Check Printer Connection:
- Make sure your printer is properly connected to the network and your MacBook is on the same network.
- Try printing a test page from another device to ensure the printer itself is functioning correctly.
HP Secure Print:
- Ensure that the HP secure printer driver is properly configured. You may need to refer to the HP secure printing documentation for specific settings.
Scan to Email Issue
Check Email Server Settings:
- Ensure that the email server settings are correctly configured on the printer. This typically includes SMTP server address, port number, and authentication details.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can be found on the HP Support website.
Check Network Configuration:
- Make sure the printer has a stable network connection and can reach the email server.
- Verify that there are no firewall settings blocking the email communication.
Test Email Settings:
- Test the email settings by sending a test email from the printer’s control panel.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
