I have an HP Deskjet 2710 All-in-One and now an HP Deskjet 2710e All-in-One. Both connect to my HP Pavilion laptop (Windows 11) via a USB cable. When the older 2710 model is connected, and I go to print, I can choose the 2710 printer in a dialogue box and print successfully. Unfortunately, if I try to scan, I simply get an error message that the device (ie the 2710e All-in-One) cannot be found.
When the 2710e All-in-One is connected, I can both print and scan. However, if I disconnect the 2710e from the laptop because I need to take the laptop elsewhere, when I plug it back in again with the USB cable, I can print but if I try to scan I get the error message that the device (ie the 2710e) cannot be found. I have to run the Print and Scan Wizard choosing the options to first fix printing problems. Then fix scanning problems to enable the 2710e to be found so that I can scan.
As the older model, the 2710 always worked very well until recently, this would suggest that HP are no-longer supporting it. It would also suggest that the HP system gets confused because it has 2 x Deskjet Series All-in One devices. Any help gratefully received please.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help.
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:
