The fact that one CAN NOT add 6 photos, crop them then scan ONCE and save them INDIVIDUALLY is absolutely GARBAGE and yes, I AM DEFINITELY UPSET.. I purchased a HP ENVY 4520 and the purpose for buying one is, I wanted to put all my photos on DVD, at the rate of 1 at a time, I won't live long enough to finish it. I have used HP products for ages, how ever, not any more..

Like jeanmcl, I have used HP products for a very long time but because of some of the issues (the photo scanning being one of the most aggravating) I have switched to Brother. Busy people look for products that improve efficiency, not that make things more difficult!
I sympathize, Jean. I was scanning one at a time and I have 40 years of photos!

The help you offered would be great if I had that model however, the one I have is HP ENVY 4520 and those settings are no where to be found.. This is the information I found and again,, doing this,, would take FOREVER..
Printers with driver versions 14 and lower have that feature. Printers with drivers versions 20 or higher do not. If you have a new model, likely it has driver version above 20 and the feature simply does not exist in the software.
This all refers to the automatic cropping of mulitple photos.
With driver versions 20 and higher, it is possible to do this but not automatically.
1. Place your multiple photos on the glass.
2. Scan to JPG
3. Select the crop to one of the photos.
4. Click to add a page.
5. Crop to the second photo.
6. If you have more than two photos on the glass, do steps 3 and 4 until all the photos are on a 'page'.
7. Click the save button and assign a name, the photos will all be saved into separate files.

I just replaced my old HP Scanjet G3110 with the newer (?) HP ENVY 4520.
I am VERY disppointed. It seems I cannot scan and save to my PC more than ONE image at a time.
With the older unit (HP Scanjet G3110 ) I could scan and SAVE dozens of images, before having to EXIT and begin to scan another, SINGLE image. RIDICULOUS !
The printer seems to work like the scanner ... ONE sheet at a time ! ALSO RIDICULOUS !
Can I exchange this unit for an EFFICIENT one ???
