I using editable text (OCR) to scan a doc. When previewing it appears fine. After saving so I can send it out, the doc is nothing but lines and symbols. I need it as a word doc not PDF or JPEG which work fine. Suggestions?

Hi,
What language your document is?
From the HP Scan application select Save as Editable Text (OCR)
Click More > in the top-right side and select destination.
Click the file type and select RTF, then ensure the correct language is selected and press OK.
Click the disk icon near the shortcut name to save the changes and try scanning again.

I recently purchased a new HP Officejet Pro 9018. My old "scan" software no longer works. I now have something called "HP Smart" on my iMac desktop computer (running Catalina). this software does NOT have any options for SAVE except PDF. There is no option that I can find to save as TEXT or WORD or anything else. There might be JPG, I don't remember butI was looking for TEXT or Word or even an OCR option.
I don't want to have to BUY a PDF editor. What can I do?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Duane Stevens

Hi,
Install the HP Full Feature Software and Drivers to get full capabilities for your printer.
Follow HP Easy Start below, be sure to select HP Full Feature Software and follow the steps on screen:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/HPEasyStart_10_5_4216_12.exe
Once completing the installation wizard double-click the HP Officejet Pro 9010 icon on your desktop and select Scan a Document or Photo, from there select Save as Editable Text.
