Scan email hangs going to Outlook

Using Windows 10 machine and a 3830 printer/scanner/fax.

We scan a document to email as a PDF it hangs opening Outlook and get the error below. If I do a ctrl alt del go to task manager is the only way to close out, although some times the email is sent but not always.

The Error:

"The HP Scam application and / or cannot attach the scan to a new email. Please check your email configuration and try again"

I can open Outlook and send email as I please with no issue. I can scan a document as a PDF, or any document or file, to a folder then manually attach it to an email  it just fine,

There is only one email account used in Outlook.

I'm looking for a way to fix this.

right-click any PDF file on your PC and select Send To > Mail Recipient, does it launch a New Mail dialog with the PDF attached?

That is actually the same task being done by the HP Scan software, does the window come up?

If it does not could be MS Outlook related issue itself

We click "scan and mail", after it scan an Outlook outgoing dialog box comes up, but we must put the email address in the "to" box, In the past email address were cached and showed up. now they do no. After a email addressed is entered and we click "send" it just hangs, some time we need to end program via task manager, sometimes it closes and sometime the mail is sent but does not show up in our sent folder of Outlook.

When I did not hear back from anyone on this post we re installed the HP printer application. Everything seems to be working now. But why / how did this happen?

It could be an update that might have caused the issue.
