I purchased the 9018e to replace my 8610. when i try to save a scan the 9018 always reverts to the original name and asks to replace it. the 8610 did not do this. it will not add a sequence number after the name. keeps wanting to overwrite the original.

If you are using scan to folder from the control panel you need to edit the scan to folder settings through the embedded web server and tell it to add either a file prefix or suffix.

If I use the Smart App to scan it automatically appends scans based on date and time.

 

If you could provide some details on which scanning software you are using  it might help as there are other software packages used for scanning with these devices.

I did that. i used the same folders with the 9018 that I had with the 8610. Yes, I'm using the hp software, same but updated as the 8610.
