Hi Jeet,

I did not perform your last set of instructions dated 8/20/2018 because I did not have time to work on that in the last two days.  This morning 8/23/18, I was going to perform your instructions, but before I proceeded I tried Scan to Email just to see if anything changed.  To my surprise, Scan to Email worked. This feature seems to be unstable.  I have found that it works intermittenly not only on this printer but also on an HP 6970 that I have in another location. Well, all I can say is thank you for all your help.  Regards,

No, it's not resolved. Same symptom -- scan to email fails -- but the situation is different. I have a Deskjet 3755. I confirmed latest firmware on printer and ran the hard reset procedure. I'm controlling with HP Smart on my Android phone (V 4.8.71 30May2018 latest). Just before the problem began, I scanned a doc, tapped Next, entered an email address, and it sent the scan. An hour later, I tried another scan. The preview looked fine. When I tapped Next, the app quit.  It has been doing that ever since. Perhaps the problem is in the HP Smart app. I would rather not spend the time to uninstall/reinstall the app and set it all up again unless this is a known issue.

I have HP 8720 Printer ., about 6 months old.

The scan to email function has not worked consistently since purchase. Sometimes it works for a couple of copies after Print and Scan Doctor access. I have taken advice from email service company and have the right SMTP settings . What more can I do please.

Initially I get a message asking for permission to send the Email attachment: when I agree there is a second message confirming that Email has been sent - but it hasn't been!

Just FYI, here's a final recap and follow-up to my posts last year regarding Deskjet 3755 Scan-to-Email:  After upgrading printer firmware and upgrading the HP Smart app on my android phone, the scan-to-email feature would only work intermittently, failing with the HP Smart app quitting after tapping Next while viewing the scan preview. I was done dealing with it. A few months ago, when I tried the feature again, it scanned and emailed properly multiple times. Now more recently, it worked properly on multiple scans. I see the HP Smart app is now V6.2.1.91, and I'm guessing the intermittent problem was in previous versions of the HP Smart app.

@TEDDY666, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Have you tried using HP Smart to scan to email?

Did you make any changes to your computer or the printer recently?

From the Control Panel select Uninstall a Program.
Search and locate Microsoft Office.
Click Uninstall (or Repair if shown), then select Repair from the shown screen and follow the steps on the screen.

From my experience that should help, else I suggest contacting Microsoft as the issue relies on MS office itself and not with the HP software.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Followed the instructions, but solution didn't work. Followed you further advice - ie contacted Microsoft who identified Outlook problem and (hopefully) issue now solved. Thank you! Teddy 666
