Hi, I have an HP Desk Jet 2135.
Recently I am not able to scan documents even though printing is okay. I went to the Device Setup & Software, clicked on Connect to Device but nothing happens, would appreciate some advice ...

Hi @Ramondo196,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing connectivity issues with your HP Deskjet 2135 printer when trying to scan documents. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or to your network if it's a network printer.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your computer and the printer can resolve connectivity issues.
- Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can usually download them from the HP website. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication problems.
- HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can automatically diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. You can download it from the HP website and run it to see if it can identify the issue.
- Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block communication between your computer and the printer. Check your firewall and antivirus settings to ensure that they are not blocking the printer's communication.
- Reinstall Software: Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer software on your computer. This can sometimes fix any corrupted files or settings that may be causing the issue.
- Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date by checking for and installing any available Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for printer connectivity issues.
- Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting your printer to its factory defaults.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
