First, the only option on the drop down menu is shown above. I actually have the HP ScanJet pro 2500 [n] scanner so I hope this discussion still applies.
When I scan a document using the feeder it puts a black line down the entire page (approximately 1 5/8 " from the left edge of the paper). I have included images showing the problem.
Image #1:
Part of the top of the page showing the vertical line. It extends from the very top to the very bottom of the page:
Image #2:
The feeder under the hood. The left side of the image is the left edge of the page:
Image #3:
Tthe underside of the feeder. The top edge of the image is the left side of the page.
I hope it's just a matter of cleaning something with a little isopropyl alcohol but I can't see any movable or rotating part that can draw a line down the length of the page (like a roller).
I would really appreciate any ideas along with detailed instructions (e.g. what needs to be disassembled) on how to access the part required to apply the alcohol.
Thanks.

You have debris or Mark on the glass. Clean the glass suits thoroughly with a dampened lint free cloth. Use you r finger nail to lose any stubborn remains. This is not a mechanical issue or you would see it when scanning from the flat glass. Use a flashlight to check for scratches on the glass.
