for me the same, I was able to scan using paint or the control panel. The problem is that, in this way, I cannot scan a multipage document and I cannot save in PDF, one of the reason I bought this all-in-one!

For those still following this thread: today 05/10/2023 I decided to try the scan app again, and it appears to be working (for now). As others mentioned, I also liked this app for the convenience of scanning multiple pages to PDF, and other facilities.

 

It's a shame that I had uninstalled and reinstalled this program several times because now I've lost the personal scan settings I had set up.

 

HP and all others, please note: if it ain't broke...

Stopped working again for some reason. Same issues as before

It seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...

Someone suggested updating the firmware which resolved the issue for them. This hasn't changed anything for me.

As of May 16, 2023, I am facing the same problem. I use HP LasetJet Pro MFP M28a. Other functions work fine, but scanning is not working. I have tried uninstall-reinstall the latest drivers, but the problem still exists.

 

As others stated, I am also the one who needs the benefit of scanning multiple pages to PDF and other facilities. Please help me figure it out asap.

Same issue with M29W! Tried EVERYTHING suggested but no change. I need to scan to PDF and multiple pages.

Someone from HP really need to read these posts and get some resolution for us, their customers!

The permission issue is suspected in the OS.

Try running the HP scan app with administrator privileges before running it.

Hello, I found the problem, when I start scanning in colour mode, the problem is the same as you have, but when I set to the black/white mode the scanner is working perfectly. So the problem is colour mode scanning. I hope it will be fixed in the future.
