Hi @CREANSMAERD,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your scanner isn't working but your printer is functioning correctly, it could be due to a variety of reasons, including software issues, driver problems, or settings configurations. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Basic Troubleshooting
- Ensure that all cables are securely connected if you're using a wired connection.
- If you're using a wireless connection, ensure the printer/scanner is connected to the same network as your computer.:
- Turn off your printer/scanner and computer.
- Wait a few minutes, then turn them back on.
- Look at the printer's display panel for any error messages or warnings.
Software and Driver Issues
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.Install the updated drivers and restart your computer.
- Uninstall the current printer software from your computer.Download and install the latest version of the HP printer software from the HP Support website.
Scanner Specific Checks
Use HP Scan Software:
- Ensure you are using the official HP scanning software.Open the HP scanning software and try to scan a document.
Check Scanner Settings:
- Open the scanning software and ensure the correct scanner is selected.Check the settings to ensure the scanner is not set to an incorrect mode or resolution.
Operating System Specific Steps
For Windows:
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix the issue.
Reset the Printing System:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select "Reset printing system..."Re-add your printer and try scanning again.
Network and Wireless Issues
- Ensure your printer/scanner is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.Print a network configuration page from the printer to check connectivity.
- Temporarily disable any firewall or security software to see if it is blocking the scanner.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
