My scanner started having intermittent failures to connect. When trying to scan it would say "scanner not found" even though it was completely plugged in. In the past, sometimes pulling all the plugs and putting them back in would solve the problem, but now not even that. When plugging it in, the computer would give a beep that a new device was being attached, and then within seconds another beep that the device was no longer attached, and this could be seen on settings as well, with the scanner appearing briefly on the list of scanners and printers, then disappearing seconds later. I updated the software, and have just tried attaching the scanner to a laptop and installing new software on the laptop, with the same results. I'm now satisfied that the problem is in the scanner itself. Is there any way to clear the "cobwebs" inside the scanner or has the scanner finally bit the dust after several years of very good performance?
