HP-JUNK.jpg

Since 10' o clock this morning, Iv'e been trying to scan a 40 page document in.

I've reinstalled the software 6 tiimes, ON BOTH PC'S .

I've run the scanner doctor too.

Really it's just been a waste of time and I'm seriously  disappointed to see that HP quality is not what it used to 10 years ago,

Neither is customer service (Unless you pay for it!)

Now you have to resort to asking the community and try to help each other out , or so it seems.

I regret buying HP printer scanner now and wish I had got another Epson MFP instead.

I'm sick of seeing all the various screens that ask to join the make the product scheme...

I don't want to join!
I bought a product and it should work without my having to join every scheme under the sun.

I don't  want to re-register, nor login so why ask me every time I start the Hp Smart App?

I don't want to print from other devices either!!

It seems like HP like every other company is more interested in COLLECTING DATA than having a product that works flawlessly...

Why do I need to login into some server's on the other side of the world? when my PC is DIRECTLY connected to the printer?
And after all of those "STUPID" steps I still get the same stupid message...

SCANNER - IS -BUSY!!

Its not busy !!! (Trust me... I'm sat right next to it!!!)

When I emailed support@hp.com my email bounced back...

So is the the state of the world today?
You buy a product from a "Well known" company, it works for a year then its problem after problem?
You try to get support and are expected to pay for it!

So what's causing it?
Can someone at HP tell me? Or do I need to go to see someone with  a crystal ball?

Disgustedly yours,

JD

I am an HP Employee

HP Model number: HP Laserjet 1536DNF MFP

HP Product Number:  CE538A

Description of the issue: As stated in my thread on the forums, and in photo .. MFP device pops an error to say Scanner is in use , even though it is not in use...

Its not clear if it a HP software issue or whether it is a windows update issue

We are using upto date Windows 10 x64 on all PC's

The 1536DNF printer is connected to PC (lets call it PC1) via Network Ethernet cable

It is also WIFI capable.

The other PC's (PC2 and PC3) used to see it as a local networked printer.

Thank You..

@JUNK322

The issue which I reported is still unresolved!!!

I've taken to using our Epson ET2560 AIO color/colour printer to continue scanning documents.

As I understand things, the issue was ESCALATED on the 17th of JUNE 2021

And here we are nearly 2 months on and still no resolution...

It gives the impression that the term "Escalated" means "We have received your query/thread"...

Still disappointed in HP customer service after sales and support...

Hi@Zeddy_Rey, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Apologies for all the inconvenience!

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue,

Assumed that you have installed the FULL feature software.  If not, the following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System, and download & install the FULL feature software.

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software:

1. Click on the Printer Icon (on your computer) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Keep me posted. Happy to help!

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Have a great day!

Hiya Praveenbv,

Thank you for your assistance...

When I click the link which you gave me (http://123.hp.com/us/en/)

I entered my printers full name (HP Laserjet 1536DNF MFP - see image below)

HP Printer not listed.jpg

My printer was not listed and the NEXT button was greyed out...

So I then clicked on the link below (My printer is not listed) and was taken to a different page (See image below)

HP complete setup.jpg

This page offered to install HP SMART (complete setup) So I clicked that button and was then taken to Microsoft store to download the software...

When I clicked the microsoft store button, it showed that HP smart is ALREADY INSTALLED...

(See image below)

HP Smart installed already.jpg

After starting the HP SMART which is already installed, I clicked on the SCAN button in the software (not the scan button on the printer control panel... (See image below)

Hp Scan.jpg

Upon clicking the SCAN button the same error message as before was displayed to me...

(See image below)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the complete package couple of times, however it does not seem to work. Now I do not even see the selection for manage scan to computer selection.
