Hi @Twenty4ozcan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the scanner light on your HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One Printer is flickering, it could indicate a few possible issues.

  • Power Issues: The flickering could be due to inconsistent power supply. Try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip or surge protector. If possible, test the printer with a different power outlet.
  • Scanner Error: A flickering light may signal a malfunction in the scanner mechanism. Try turning the printer off and unplugging it from the power source for about a minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Firmware/Software Update: Ensure that the printer’s firmware and drivers are up to date. Go to the HP Support website and download any new updates specific to your printer model.
  • Restart Printer: Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it for 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Check for Obstructions: Open the scanner lid to check if anything is obstructing the scanner light from moving properly across the glass bed.
  • Factory Reset: If none of the above works, you could try a factory reset of the printer. This can sometimes resolve hardware issues. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
