Microsoft Windows 11

I have an Officejet Pro 9015e and am wirelessly connected to a computer running Windows 11.  I use HP Smart to scan documents.  Recently I have found that I can no longer scan directly to email.  I used to scan a document, click on Share, click on email and a new email would open up , to which the scan was attached and I could then easily address that new email and send it.  Now, for some reason, when I scan and click on Share and Email, my inbox opens on email, but a new email does not open with the scan attached to it. I now have to go to my One Drive, find the scanned document, create a new email and attach it.  I do not know why this started to happen and since my printer is now out of warranty, I can not really get help from HP Support to try to figure out a fix,  It is really inconvenient to go through all of these additional steps just to email a scan,  Is there a simple fix for this?

Welcome to the HP Community --

If you "upgraded" your Windows Mail to "New Outlook", and then tried to use HP Smart and "Share", the result might be exactly as you describe.

What?

At least in my case, HP Smart "Share" does not work with "New Outlook" (yet).

Zilch, Nada, No.

An alternative -- actually a "meh" workaround -- is to create a Shortcut in HP Smart that sends the mail to the pre-selected recipient(s) (email address(es) listed in the shortcut).

Testing shows it works.  That said, the recipient(s), subject, message, and file type are selected when you create the shortcut -- these cannot be changed during job submission.

Create the Shortcut

Scan the data / content > Optionally Edit > Done > Invoke Shortcuts > select Shortcut

Thanks.  I switched back to the Old Outlook and that  solved the issue.

You are welcome.

I keep trying to make "New Outlook" work and then switch back when I get tired of pounding on it.

I could be missing something...

It is early days yet.  Windows Mail still works...
